About B2C2
B2C2 is an institutional over-the-counter (OTC) liquidity provider for digital assets, not a consumer crypto exchange, bank, custodian or asset manager. According to its own research disclosures, the firm provides electronic pricing and execution in crypto-assets to financial institutions such as banks, brokers, exchanges, funds and fintechs, and it states that it does not transact with or provide services to retail clients. B2C2 was founded in 2015, with its group parent (B2C2 Ltd) headquartered in London and majority-owned by Japan's SBI Group following a 2020 acquisition. The service B2C2 offers is institutional liquidity rather than a spot wallet, savings, staking or card product. Its OTC offering covers a multi-asset range of major cryptocurrencies and stablecoins, spanning spot and derivatives with near-instant 24/7 settlement. It does not provide custody, savings/DCA, staking or card issuance, and EUR/SEPA is not presented as a direct retail on-ramp; clients are institutions that may route fiat through their own channels. On the legal point, the contracting EU entity is B2C2 Europe S.a r.l., a Luxembourg-based subsidiary authorised as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) by Luxembourg's Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF). Per the ESMA register, the MiCA authorisation covers exchange of crypto-assets for funds, exchange of crypto-assets for other crypto-assets, and execution of orders for crypto-assets on behalf of clients. It does not cover custody, operation of a trading platform, transfer services, portfolio management, advice or placing. B2C2 states it was the first global OTC liquidity provider to obtain a CASP licence under MiCA, and it appears on EU national CASP registers including France's AMF and Spain's CNMV. What does this mean for users of B2C2 in the EU?
If you transact through B2C2's EEA-authorised entity (B2C2 Europe Sarl), the protections introduced by MiCA apply to your relationship from onwards. In practical terms this means: client crypto-assets are ring-fenced from the exchange's own funds (Article 70 MiCA), the authorised entity holds prudential capital, has formal complaint-handling procedures, and is subject to transparency obligations on fees and order execution. One thing to verify yourself: the legal entity you contract with day-to-day must match the entity in the ESMA register. Some global exchanges operate multiple legal entities under one brand. Confirm in B2C2's terms of service that your contracting entity is B2C2 Europe Sarl, not a non-EEA affiliate.

Is B2C2 licensed under MiCA?
Yes. B2C2 appears in the ESMA Register of MiCA-Authorised Crypto-Asset Service Providers, with its authorisation issued by the competent authority of Luxembourg.
Which EU countries can B2C2 serve under this licence?
A MiCA authorisation in one EEA member state permits passporting across all EEA member states, subject to a notification process to each host-state regulator.
Are my crypto-assets on B2C2 protected under MiCA?
MiCA introduces ring-fencing of client crypto-assets, prudential capital requirements for the authorised entity, complaint-handling obligations, and conduct rules. It does not provide a deposit-guarantee scheme equivalent to bank deposit insurance.
What's the difference between the authorised entity and the global brand?
Some global exchanges operate multiple legal entities. The MiCA authorisation applies only to the specific legal entity in the ESMA register, not to the global brand. Verify the contracting entity in B2C2's terms of service.
